This spreadsheet template was created at the Blyth Festival in 2018 specifically for use during new play development.

When working as an Assistant Stage Manager, tracking characters and costumes through multiple revisions of scripts can become extremely time consuming. When a character is added to a scene they weren’t in before, it can create a domino effect on presets, traffic flow, and timelines.

This spreadsheet allowed me to enter each “look” one time, and be able to select it whenever that character was wearing that costume in a scene. If they didn’t need to change, the cell would simply display “Same”. If the creative team needed to make changes, it was as simple as making one edit, and the whole document would reflect the new flow.

Using the collaborative power of Google Sheets, I was able to supply all relevant departments with clean, up-to-date paperwork.
